Frequently Asked Questions
Answers about alerts, onboarding, billing, security, and what to expect from ReviewByte.
General
Can ReviewByte respond to private messages or DMs?
Right now, ReviewByte focuses on public reviews and comments. Direct messages or DMs are not automatically handled, but we may expand into this area in the future, depending on platform policies and demand.
How it works
How will I know when there is a new review or comment?
You will receive alerts via SMS and email. Each alert can include:
- The platform (Google, Facebook, Instagram)
- Reviewer name where available
- The review or comment text
- The AI-generated reply that was posted
- Sentiment classification (positive, neutral, negative, or sensitive)
- Status: whether the reply was auto-posted or is awaiting your approval (for sensitive reviews)
For most reviews, ReviewByte automatically posts the reply and sends you an alert summary. For sensitive reviews, you'll receive an SMS with the review and suggested reply, with options to approve or handle it yourself.
Alerts and channels
Can I change how often I get alerts?
Yes. You can manage:
- Which platforms trigger alerts
- Which sentiments trigger alerts, such as positive, neutral, negative, or sensitive
- Quiet hours, times when alerts are paused or batched
All of this is configurable in your owner dashboard.
How do I stop SMS alerts?
Reply STOP to any ReviewByte SMS to opt out, or reply HELP for help. You can also disable SMS alerts in your dashboard. ReviewByte only sends service alerts for your own connected business pages, not marketing messages. Message and data rates may apply.
Do you support WhatsApp alerts?
Not right now. Today we focus on SMS and email alerts because they are simpler and more predictable across carriers. We may revisit WhatsApp alerts in the future if Meta's template policies make it easier to stay compliant with their messaging requirements.
Onboarding and setup
How do I get started with ReviewByte?
It takes a few minutes:
- Click "Start your 7 day free trial" on the website.
- Enter your business name, contact email, and phone number.
- Connect your Google, Facebook, and Instagram business accounts.
- We send you a "Complete your setup" email so you can set a password and open your dashboard.
- Once connected, ReviewByte starts watching for new reviews and comments.
No credit card is required for the trial.
Do I need a credit card to start the free trial?
No. The 7 day trial is card free. When the trial is close to ending, we will prompt you to pick a plan and enter payment details if you want to continue with automatic replies and alerts.
Can I connect multiple locations or pages?
Yes. You can:
- Connect more than one Google location
- Connect multiple Facebook Pages and an Instagram Business account
Your plan determines how many locations and properties you can connect. This is shown on the pricing page and in the dashboard.
What if I already used a free trial before?
We limit free trials to one per business. If we detect that a business has already had a trial using the same business details, domain, or place ID, you will not get a second full trial, but you can still log in, manage your account, and subscribe to a paid plan at any time.
Login and passwords
How do I log in to my ReviewByte dashboard?
After you enroll, we send a "Complete your setup" email:
- Click the link in that email to set your password.
- Once your password is set, you can always log in at the dashboard URL using your email and password.
- If you lose the email, you can use "Forgot password" on the login page to get a new link.
I never set a password, how do I access my account?
If you enrolled before we introduced passwords, do this:
- Go to the dashboard login page and click "Forgot password".
- Enter the email you used when you enrolled.
- We will send you a secure link to set a password and complete your setup.
- After that, you log in with email and password like any other SaaS.
I forgot my password, how do I reset it?
On the login page:
- Click "Forgot password".
- Enter your email address.
- If your email is registered, we send a secure reset link.
- Click the link, choose a new password, and you will be logged in automatically.
For security, we never show whether a specific email is registered. We always say "If an account exists, you will receive an email."
Why do I see an empty dashboard with zeros?
That usually means you have opened the dashboard shell without a valid login session. If the system cannot identify you, it cannot load your owner data, so you will see a "not logged in" message and a link to the login page. Log in via the dashboard login link first, and after that, your data should appear.
AI replies
How does the AI decide what to say?
We look at:
- The review or comment text
- The rating and sentiment
- Your business name and category
- Your past approved replies over time, when available
We then generate a reply designed to be polite, on brand, and context aware, thanking customers, acknowledging issues, and inviting them back or into a private channel when needed.
Can I change the tone of the AI replies?
Yes. You can configure the tone in your dashboard, for example warm and friendly or professional and concise. You can also edit individual replies before posting if something needs a personal touch.
What counts as a sensitive review?
Sensitive reviews include those that mention:
- Safety or health concerns
- Legal threats or discrimination issues
- Serious complaints about staff conduct or service failures
- Personal threats or abusive language
When a review is flagged as sensitive, ReviewByte does NOT auto-post a reply. Instead, we send you an SMS containing the review text and a suggested AI reply. You can then choose Option 1 to approve and post the reply, or Option 2 to ignore it and handle the review yourself.
Plans and billing
How long is the free trial and what do I get?
The free trial lasts 7 days and includes:
- Full access to your connected Google, Facebook, and Instagram accounts
- Automatic AI replies within configured limits
- SMS and email alerts
- Access to the owner dashboard and review history
No credit card is required to start.
What happens when my free trial ends?
When your trial ends:
- If you choose a paid plan, service continues and automatic replies and alerts stay active.
- If you do not subscribe, premium features pause or downgrade. Auto reply and alerts will stop, but you can still log in and see your historical data.
We send reminders before your trial ends so you are not surprised.
What plan options do you offer?
Our pricing is structured by locations and features. For example:
- Starter: 1 location (AI replies + alerts). AI Insights available as an optional add-on.
- Growth: up to 3 locations. AI Insights included.
- Franchise: more than 3 locations. Contact Sales for custom setup.
The exact plan names and prices are shown on the pricing page and inside the dashboard.
How do payments work?
We use Stripe for secure billing:
- You subscribe to a monthly plan using your card.
- Your subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel.
- Stripe handles card details; we never store card numbers on our servers.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account billing section. When you cancel:
- Your current billing period continues until its end.
- You will not be charged again after that.
- Premium features pause or downgrade once your paid period ends.
What happens if my payment fails or my card expires?
If a payment fails:
- Stripe will try to re charge according to its retry schedule.
- We notify you via email so you can update your payment method.
- If the issue is not resolved after a grace period, premium features such as auto replies and alerts may be paused until payment is updated.
Your data stays safe; only automation is limited.
Security and privacy
How does ReviewByte keep my data safe?
We take security seriously:
- We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) between your browser and our backend.
- ReviewByte connects to Google, Meta, and other providers using official APIs and tokens, not by storing your passwords.
- Passwords for your owner account are stored as secure hashes using bcrypt, never in plaintext.
- We do not store or see your payment card numbers; Stripe handles that.
What data do you store?
We store only what we need to operate the service:
- Your business and contact information
- Reviews and comments fetched from connected platforms
- AI generated replies and posting status
- Alert history such as what was sent, when, and where
- Billing and subscription metadata, but not card numbers
We do not resell your data to third parties.
Are you compliant with Google and Meta rules?
ReviewByte uses official APIs, Google Business Profile and Meta Graph API, and follows each platform's developer policies. We focus on posting owner replies and managing your own pages, not manipulating ratings or violating content rules.
Can I delete my account and data?
Yes. You can request account deletion via support. When you do:
- We disconnect your connected platforms.
- We remove or anonymize your personal data and business metadata as required by our policies.
- Some aggregated analytics or logs may be retained in a de identified form where legally permissible.
Support and roadmap
How do I contact support?
You can reach us via the contact details on the website or the support link in your dashboard. We are a product led company, but we take support seriously, especially during your trial and early months.
What features are you planning next?
On our short term roadmap:
- Deeper analytics and AI insights such as trends, sentiment over time, and staff scorecards
- Additional alert channels (WhatsApp may be revisited if Meta's policies become more compatible)
- Additional review sources where allowed by APIs and policies
- More controls on AI tone and business policies
We will share updates via email and in app announcements as new features go live.
